1.2.3 Purpose and Responsibilities of the Vice President of Operations and Strategic Initiatives

A. Purpose

The following describes briefly the general duties and responsibilities of the Vice President for Operations and Strategic Initiatives.

B. Persons Affected

All personnel reporting to the Vice President of Operations and Strategic Initiatives. Administrative officials include the Chief Compliance Officer, Director of Facilities Management, Emergency Management, Chief, University Police, Director of Information Security, and Director of Environmental, Health and Safety.

E. Responsibilities

  1. The Vice President of Operations and Strategic Initiatives is the chief operations officer and represents The University of Texas at Tyler in matters related to operations of the institution and is directly responsible to the President. 
  2. Primary duties are to: direct strategic planning and evaluation of University operations; serve as the Institutional Compliance Officer and direct the operation of the Institutional Compliance Program; custodian of records; and perform other duties as prescribed by the President.

This document shall be reviewed by the Vice President for Operations and Strategic Initiatives every five years or as the organization or responsibilities change.
