4.15.6 Equal Employment Opportunity

A. Purpose

The purpose of this policy is to state to employees and applicants for employment the commitment of UT Tyler to equal employment opportunity.

  1. Equal Employment Opportunity

    The University of Texas at Tyler is committed to equal employment opportunity. It accepts the obligation as a member of the community at large, and as a government contractor, to exercise an active and positive program of non-discrimination in all areas of employment. Employment decisions are made by providing equal opportunity and access on the basis of qualifications and merit.

    In accordance with the Board of Regents' Rules and Regulations, Rule 10701, "To the extent provided by applicable law, no person shall be excluded from participation in, denied the benefits of, or be subject to discrimination under, any program or activity sponsored or conducted by The University of Texas System or any of its institutions, on the basis of race, color, national origin, religion, sex, age, veteran status, or disability."

  2. Implementation

    General responsibility for implementation of the policy rests with U. T. Tyler officials. The President has delegated to Human Resources the responsibility to coordinate implementation of the Equal Employment Opportunity programs within U. T. Tyler.

F. Review

This policy shall be reviewed by Human Resources every five years or as legislation changes.
